14 May 2003 UK technology for the European market Mirago, the UK search engine, has announced the launch of a new German site, which can be accessed at www.mirago.de. Aimed at a German user base, the site offers an in depth, web index of sites in or about Germany, supplemented with relevant International reference content. The index currently includes more than 100 million German web pages. Mirago believes this is one of the widest and deepest indexes currently available for Germany. Mirago, a UK company, applies its own technology to provide country specific search, focusing on pages with relevant National or regional content. In the same way as Mirago´s UK and French sites, the new German site also features a family filter option to eliminate from the results sites featuring sex or violence not suitable for young surfers. Mirago has developed its own software to explore the web and prepare deep National indexes. Robot software continually searches for new sites and updates the index to ensure it remains fresh and renders the most relevant results. In the UK alone Mirago is currently rendering approaching 1 million pages of search results a day via its own site at www.mirago.co.uk and a network of search partners. “We are delighted to offer German users an index designed so they can search quickly and efficiently for the information they need”, said Stephen Holmes Chief Executive of Mirago plc. “At times useful information can become lost among thousands of geographically irrelevant web pages. Our objective is to provide users with content more relevant to their country or region.” |
