25 February 2004 Mirago Launches Trusted Feed Program Mirago launches trusted feed program to include fresh and dynamic information from content rich web sites. Today, Mirago has launched Trusted Feeds, a service designed specifically to solve the search engine inclusion problems faced by the providers of dynamically driven, content rich websites. Often referred to as the ‘invisible’, or ‘deep web’ (due to the problems encountered by search engine robots whilst indexing pages), database driven sites constitute a vast proportion of today´s world wide web. E-commerce and current event sites are often ignored completely, or indeed eclipsed, by static sites with much less content. Trusted Feeds allow businesses to submit page content via an XML (eXtensible Mark-up Language) feed directly into Mirago´s searchable index. Mirago, unlike most current trusted feed providers, refreshes its feeds on a daily basis to ensure that the most up-to-date content possible is available to its users. Trusted Feeds are a particular advantage for database driven websites, as Stephen Holmes, chief executive officer at Mirago Plc, explains: “Traditionally the only way into a search engine index is to be visited by a robot. Unfortunately for many important sites this is not feasible. Most commercial sites contain thousands of pages driven by a database. Trusted Feeds allow us to read and index the relevant contents of such a database. When a page or product has changed we are aware very quickly and can pass this information on to our users.” Whilst search engine users enjoy the benefit of more broad and up-to-date search results, there are extra benefits for the providers of Trusted Feeds. Mirago´s partners receive detailed reporting for each URL submitted, allowing the performance of each submitted page to be constantly reviewed along with the search terms employed to generate the result.
