6 December 2004 Mirago expands European reach with launch of new web indexes ALTON, December 6, 2004 - Mirago plc, a provider of search and media related software, has announced today that it is further widening its web presence in Europe by introducing new web indexes across seven European countries. The new indexes are now live in Italy, Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Norway, Denmark and Sweden, adding to those previously launched in the UK, Germany, France and Spain. Mirago creates each European index by using a software robot to collate information drawn from publicly accessible web sites. The robot reads and analyses the contents of millions of web pages each day. Once the relevant information is extracted, it is converted into searchable indexes. The indexes are then used to point users to web documents relevant to each individual search query. Mike James, European Business Development Manager at Mirago, said: “Responding to an increase in demand for additional indexes across Europe, we decided to give our partners the opportunity to target users in different markets.” “Opening these new indexes not only gives us an ideal opportunity to move into new European markets but also allows us to take advantage of our presence by building new partnerships with companies across Europe.” |
